In this tutorial I'm going to show you How quick and easy it is to get an E-commerce site up and running on Cloudways and I'm going to show you how Fast the site ends up being if you build It the way I show you in this video and Spoiler alert it's really fast if you Have any questions or comments Throughout this video please leave them Down below I try to answer them the best I can my name is Bjorn from WP learning Lab where we help you get better at WordPress so you can earn more for Yourself for your customers and for your Business if you haven't done so yet Click subscribe and ring the bell so you Don't miss new future videos let's get Started here are cloudways.com one of The most popular hosts in the world why Are they so popular it's because they're Fast and they have servers they allow You to scale really easily in fact it's Not their servers they connect to other Server providers so rather than having a Hosting account where you buy a hosting Package and you have to upgrade those Packages and those servers are usually Hosted somewhere else as well but you Don't even see that cloudways is very Transparent and they provide a dashboard To allow you to manage all your apps and Websites on other servers I'll show you What that all means in just a minute you Can start for free though so there's a
Three day free trial with no credit card Only three days so you have to be fast But if you want to follow along on this Video just click on start for free now Fill out this short form over here and Get started for free I already have an Account so I'm just going to log into That So when you log in you're brought to This page which allows you to deploy an Application and server and you also see Servers and application links up here Might be confusing which one do you Choose if you want to install a website Or build a website do you want to serve Or do you want application do you want Both it turns out they're both the same Thing if I click on servers it'll show a List of servers that you have and Currently we don't have any but the URL When we click on launch now Takes us to Platform.cloudways.com forward slash Server forward slash create now if we go To Applications this lists applications We have with cloudways currently none if We click on launch now for applications It goes to the exact same URL forward Slash server forward slash create and This form is also the same so they both Work there's different ways to organize What you have in cloudways servers can Often hold more than one website so you Might have one server but you might have
Five applications on the applications List so that's why they separate those Two out might be point of confusion That's why I wanted to point that out When you're ready Choose WordPress this is the WordPress Channel this WordPress version 6 has Some cloudways optimization built into It to make it faster than usual If for whatever reason you don't want The clouds optimization you choose this Option down here And we are in fact in this video Building a woocommerce site so we're Going to install woocommerce which is Basically WordPress 6.0 with woocommerce Already pre-installed we could just Install WordPress and install Woocommerce kind of the same thing this Just saves one extra step so I'm going To choose that the name for the app is Going to be holiday Pop-up store and the server name is Going to be holidays make a server name All lower case not required but I think I should This is still a project from the last Video that we've done cloudways that Video I've Linked In the description Down Below on the card above in that Video which is focused on cloudways I go Through all the settings in your Cloudways account we're not going to do That in this video because we're focused
On building a website so if you want to See all the settings and walk through All those there's that video that I've Linked In the cover above and the Description down below And for all these you can see the prices Down below Pick the one you want you can do your Research on each of these service Providers see which one you like AWS is Obviously one of the big names and they Have big prices too the smallest one is 36 bucks a month Smallest one on lineode 12. Smallest one on vulture 13 smallest one Digital ocean is 10 and Google Cloud the Smallest one is 33. so we're scaling up In price actually Amazon's three dollars More than than Google Cloud And if you're finding this tutorial Helpful click the like button because That helps this video show up for more People on YouTube so we can spread the Knowledge and help more people with this Information so make sure you click like If you like this video Amazon Google Cloud also allow you to Choose a lot more options down below for Your bandwidth through storage and for Your database size and as your traffic Increases you can easily scale up your Server not right here this is the the Creation step but I'll show you in the Settings where you can scale up your
Server as you need to and the most Expensive one has 64 CPU and 64 gigs of RAM which is a lot and it's 1600 a month Currently And we are going to stick with the Smallest version on line out and if you Want to compare what this is the stats We have one gigabyte of ram 25 gigs of Disk space and One processor if we go to Siteground for example and we go to Cloud hosting Here we have four CPUs and eight gigs of RAM if we move it up to that eight gigs Of RAM with four cores it's 160 Gigabytes of disk space compared to only 40 over here And Five terabytes of transfer that's the Same 400 bucks a month it's a little bit Cheaper over here at 90. you get more Disk space as well but if you go to the Lower levels for low traffic websites When you're just starting out you can go To the lower level which is only costing You 12 dollars with the lowest cloud Hosting level on siteground Is a hundred and if you went back to Regular hosting this WordPress hosting This is not Cloud hosting in this case This is just hosting on Siteground hosting plans one website 10 Gigs of web space Once the discount expires it's 15 a
Month Still more than the 12 gig or sorry 12 And this is more than enough for a small Site when you're starting out And so as you can see it's often cheaper Than other hosts so the one gig option Is great for smaller sites and you can Scale up as your traffic grows For the location you want to pick a Location that is closest to your main Source of traffic so if your main source Of traffic is in Germany you would pick Frankfurt if it's in Asia you'd pick Singapore or Tokyo You get the idea so I'm going to choose Toronto for the east coast and click on Launch now on the right hand side Our server is going to be set up oh hold On Get two times the referral bonus fifty Dollars Refer your friends and get 50 bucks And your friend also gets 25 that's Pretty slick so you can invite your Friends make a bit of cash if you want To So our server is currently being Configured it's going to take about Seven minutes until it's up and running And it'll have WordPress and woocommerce Already installed which we're going to See so I'm going to pause this video Then I'll come back once this is rock And rolling our servers ready our
Website is installed and it's one day Later than what I was doing in the Previous section of the video I got Distracted family stuff you know how it Goes either way we have our holiday Server right here that we can host Multiple applications on if we switch to Applications we have the holiday pop-up Store woocommerce app that we installed To see what this looks like right now Out of the box click on this little Arrow shooting out of the box and here It is Not super This is the subdomain on cloudways I'll Show you how to change that to your own Domain in just a second but first I want To see how fast this thing is so let's Copy this URL And zoom in here before I forget let's Go to page speed insights paste that guy In and Page speed Insight says updated It provides more data than it used to Than even just a few days ago which you Can see right here performance Accessibility best practices and even SEO this is straight from Google so they Probably know what they're talking about In regards to SEO so on mobile right out Of the gate we're at 92 takes two Seconds the first content full paint or 2.6 I should say but on the very second Screenshot We see something loading that's what
People really care about something Loading on the page something happening As fast as possible And I don't think that first screenshot Is 2.6 seconds if you go to desktop We're at 99 and also a second screenshot We see stuff happening so the site speed Is ours to lose now we're starting from A starting point that's really good all We can do now is slow it down by the Decisions we make going forward on this Website our first decision which won't Affect our site speed is adding our own Domain name to do that we need to click Into our holiday pop-up store under the Applications section make note of this IP or copy it you can click the copy and Then click on domain management Here we can enter a primary domain this Would be one that you bought somewhere Else for example GoDaddy or namecheap I've logged into my namecheap account Where I have a domain this right here a Family adventures and in here we go to Advanced DNS in GoDaddy be somewhere Different in whatever domain register You have it'll be call something Different how to get to the DNS area but Once you're here it all looks about the Same we have a form like this where we Have to fill in a type a host a value And a TTL Once you find this click on add new Record choose a record choose at for the
Host Paste in the IP that we just copied from Our cloudways account and you can keep This set automatic Then click that check mark Now what this does is it sends all Visitor traffic that tries to get to This domain it's going to send them to Cloudways we're going to add the domain In right here To finish this process just copy that Paste that in there save changes and now Any website traffic that's trying to Access this domain name is going to be Forwarded to this website on cloudways This is different than change in the Name servers if you change the name Servers which you can't point to Cloudways by the way you can only do the A records and a few other records I Think but if you change the name servers Then all traffic goes to where you're Pointing it which is quite often a Hosting account which is where you set Up your email so when we do it this way When we send just the a record just the Traffic to cloudways we can actually in The DNS here create what are called MX Records and I don't see them here Here we go mail settings And MX records You can also set it right to Gmail that Auto fills them and this will then send
You email to the specific spot you're Sending it to in here which can be a Little bit confusing because normally When you have a Hosting account it's all In one spot but this is actually better Because if you ever decide to switch Hosting from cloudways to somewhere else And you afford only the a record all you Have to do is change the IP in the a Record and your website is going to be Pointing to some other Hosting account And your MX records and whatever else You have set up is just going to keep on Working without any Interruption so it's Actually easier this way once you have Some experience but it can be a little Confusing if you need help with setting That up click on this little link right Here I've done it a thousand times so I Can do it in my sleep on this page if You scroll down to here's a video that Walks you through what we just did the DNS records also you can click on Creating a records has a specific blog Post on specifically what we just did Creating the a record 2.2 cloudways and because your changes Are saved both in namecheap and Cloudways pretty soon this domain name Is going to be active and it's going to Send us to this website Try it right now just for fun And it's there We did it
We don't have an SSL installed but this Is the right place even replaced all Right to our headline up here site title With the domain name to do our SSL click On SSL certificate You can choose let's encrypt or you can Have one that you paid for if you want Less encrypt is free you just add an Email address and a domain name Wild cards is for if you have sub Domains and you want your SSL to apply Automatically to all your subdomains as Well in this case we don't have any Subdomains so we'll just keep it here if You're interested in adding subdomains To your site in cloudways The tutorial I referenced a few minutes Ago at the start of this video walks you Through how to add a website as a Subdomain to cloudways so check that out If you want to do subdomains click on Install certificates when you're done or When you're ready and also another video I just mentioned walks you through all These settings we're not going to go Through all these we're focused today on Just getting an e-commerce site up on a Cloudways and getting it functional but As far as all these settings go they're All covered in that other video as well This takes a few minutes and often the Effects of applying the SSL aren't Filled immediately as in when we go to This website it's not going to be https
Within three seconds of installing it Might take a few hours for it to come Into effect I'll just pause this video While this runs there we go all done It'll expire January 23rd In 2023 and yes it expires quite Regularly the let's encrypt ssls do you Can enable auto renewal which is what You want to do so make sure that's on And now that we have that set up we're Going to log into our website and Customize our e-commerce store to log Into our site we have the site right Here we just go as we would normally Let's go to WP Dash admin here's our Login form if you forget your login Credentials go to access details this is Again inside the application that we're Working on we have our username right Here And we have the password right here so Copy the username You can click to copy the password off To show it Stays hidden the whole time which is Super convenient for making videos click On login once your details are in there And we are in This is the dashboard of our website There's another update available which Is probably the theme called storefront This was installed automatically by Cloudways so this is a storefront theme At the install when you install
Woocommerce So that's pretty handy and if you recall How it looks not great out of the box But luckily there are some themes that Look right out of the box and this is Easily customizable to look great as Well But first we're going to finish doing Our housekeeping inside our site here Let's go to posts sometimes there's a Hello world post here there it isn't in This case that's good media sometimes Has placeholder image for woocommerce That's okay we'll keep that this is for When you create a woocommerce product But you don't add an image to it or even A category This will show up in its place where the Image should go here's a bunch of pages Pre-installed these are all woocommerce Pages this one right here that's just The WordPress page the cart checkout my Account refunds and returns policy and Shop our woocommerce Pages sample page We can trash And once it's in the trash it'll be here For 30 days then it's deleted or you can Just come in here to the trash and click On delete permanently to make whatever Pages you deleted gone immediately and Then we're going to go to products might Be a sample product in here there is not We're going to go to Now settings and Permalinks just to make sure we have the
Right link structure which is something You want to do right away on your site This is the one we want have your domain Name followed by Percent post name percent or forward Slash percent post name percent because This will add in whatever the title is Of whatever post or product you're Publishing it'll have that right in here Which is the best for SEO you always Want to make sure your titles are the Topics or keywords you actually want to Rank that post your product for So this is what we want right here all The rest we can leave as is for now and Now the very next thing I want to work On is making this site a little prettier This is not going to do and I prefer Using templates as a starting point Because it just makes work so much Faster and so much more inspirational This this right here is not inspiring Doesn't get any of my creative juices Flowing wanting to fix this up so I'm Going to go to appearance and then Themes I'm going to go to add new and I'm going to look up Astra One of the best themes you can get for WordPress the free version is amazing There's also a paid version that's even More amazing Where it's going to stick to the free One I'm pretty sure let's activate that It's installed we're going to go ahead
And delete all the other themes By clicking into them and then clicking Delete they're unnecessary They're easily reinstalled these are all The free WordPress themes so if you ever Want to back you can easily go to add New and then find them so we have just This theme installed now if I go to Astro options we see there's lots and Lots of options you may not know this But when you sign up for cloudways you Also get a free year of Astra Pro with Any cloudways account Astra Pro provides Way more options for customizing your Site making it absolutely perfect for What you need I recommend you get a Seto As fast as possible and you iterate when Meaning you can tweak it and prove it as You go but Astra Pro will give you all The options you need to build a high Quality high class eCommerce site and It's for free with Astro this page right Here details what you get with Astra Pro And how it all works is this free Subscription to it you can also go to Astropro.com get more information there But it's a great theme and I'll take Your eCommerce site to the next level And so this partnership where you get a Free subscription for one year is Absolutely awesome there's a bunch of Asterisk plugins down here we're going To install a plugin called the Importer Plugin I guess I was going to call it
Starter templates but I guess it's Called the Importer plugin let's install That by clicking that little link there And this is going to allow us to browse Through all the templates Astra has and Install them click on build your site Now I'm going to choose block editor Because it keeps our site loading Liquidy split and here we have all kinds Of templates And these ones are all free the paid Ones have an overlay There's no option filter just for paid As far as I can tell I'm sure we'll see The overlay in a minute it says Pro or Even Agency on some of them and you Click in any one of these and you can See Decide how it looks and this will Actually be imported just like this onto Your current website that you're working On and then you can customize it however You need to So I'm going to go back to the top and I'm going to apply some filters E-commerce online shop I was hoping for Like a cake store Who doesn't like cakes Let's look up cake Did not match when you started templates As in none of them are called cake These will look pretty random Let's just go to online shop And there are lots and lots of options
And these are not just the home page Let's do this one right here home and Garden decor if you click on these links Up here These pages are also imported and they All will look just how we have it there You can upload your logo right here it's Going to Auto Import your logo into the Site as well which is super handy I actually have a logo created for this Demo so I'm going to upload that here Just click on there click on select file Or you can drag and drop it into there As well There we go there's our logo much bigger Than the recommended but I think it'll Scale down Select that there it is I could tweak it A bit make the text bigger but It's not the point of this video you can Also go like this But then your header bar gets too big There's a balance fine balance with how You want your logos to work and how you Want them to appear I'm happy with that Click on continue You can change the default colors of the Website using these options here I'm going to keep it as we have it there You can change the font Not many options for font Just the Sands and Sans serif and just These guys here click on continue you Don't have to fill any of this in if you
Don't want to You have to check these boxes though you Want to import the customizer settings Keep that checked import widgets install Required plugins let's check by default You can't uncheck that one import Content and share non-sensitive data I'm Going to uncheck that box it's Nonsensitive data some shirts fine but I'm going to uncheck that all the rest You want to have checked and this is Going to overwrite whatever's on the Site so if you already have a site You've been working on for a while it's Going to overwrite what you have there So make sure you understand that before You click on submit and build my site That's going to go through and install Everything and then when this is done We're going to have our e-commerce Template up and running Our website is installed we can click on View your website right here to check it Out And it looks pretty great if I do say so Myself Of course you're going to change a lot Of things the idea is you pick a Template that is close to what you want And then you update it with your content It saves you a lot of work from having To build it all yourself If it's all nicely laid out nice and Clean
It is super helpful So there's the home page we have the all Products page also called the shop page Where it shows all products This set is broken out to home decor as Well which would be a category So the all products has 12 results home Decor has seven and I'm guessing garden Decor L5 And it does And then we have the about page Then we have the contact page We have to put our form in there update All this info obviously And we also have Best sellers see what that is nothing Right now these are just ideas for stuff To have as other other links on your Site these ones are all ones that work These ones are just ideas So to customize this site now to how you Want it to be You go into your dashboard Hover over appearance and go to Customize there's also a link to this in The the top bar on the main side as well I just want to show you in the Dashboards this is probably working on How you're going to be getting to it Most of the time Click on customize and pretty much every Option on this site can be customized if You hover over anything and there's a Pencil you can click on the pencil it's
Going to take you right to the spot Where you can customize the pencil or Sorry the the widget that you clicked on In this first case is the logo this is The menu over here we have our Woocommerce cart Woocommerce account You can customize your menu down here You can also click through each of these To find what you want to work on and if You take advantage of the free Astra Pro Subscription that you get the cloudways You can customize your site beyond what You think is reasonably possible Astra Pro is an absolutely awesome awesome Theme and it provides so many options in The customizer it's unbelievable So if we go to all products You notice there are no pencils here We have to go into woocommerce And here We can find the settings for the layout For the general woocommerce shop Product catalog single product cart Checkout miscellaneous product image and Store notice I'm not going to go through Every single option in here because it's Not too hard for you to do that and you Can click on any one of these and see What that looks like for example the Sidebar layout currently Default which is no sidebar if I click On this one It's going to update right away have a
Sidebar on the right we currently have No widgets in our sidebar that's why It's not appearing let's go back to our Default product shop design or the card Design we have discards as you see here We can set it to four or by default it's At four we can also have more details by Choosing design number two and what this Does is it just adds the add to cart Option over top of the image which you Don't have when you go to the single And hover over there's lots of different Options For everything to do with your Woocommerce store and customizing its Appearance inside of the customizer And if you upgrade to Astra Pro there's Even more options but the Astra free is More than good enough for pretty much Everybody once your store starts making Some money and you want to make some Highly customized tweaks maybe Pro will Be a good option for you but until then The free version worked just fine if you Make any changes make sure you click on Publish up here and then click the X to Leave the customizer And that's where we customize the Overall look of our website but where do You customize the actual content for That you go to products this is a Woocommerce tab and this is where all The products in the store live This is also the area where you define
Your categories let's say you're selling Remote control cars first thing you Probably want to do is go into Categories And select all these categories maybe Not all products but select garden decor Home decor and delete those Click on apply delete those products Those posts to be attributed to other Categories Or you just delete all those as well but I recommend you just update the ones That are there so if we delete our Categories those will be attributed to Different categories whatever those Posts were and then a few or products if You go back into all products you can go To edit any one of them And just change the name Edit the URL To match the name if you want to match The name Dawn doesn't have to but it's Better for SEO Add your description add your images on The right hand side Update your pricing and your inventory Your shipping Linked products attributes And there's tutorials on all of these on My channel and as well as a bunch of Other channels there's there's oodles And oodles of woocommerce content on YouTube to help you figure out what each One of these is and how they all work
And down here you'd pick your categories So if you deleted the home decor Category that wouldn't be checked Obviously then you just check the Appropriate one where it does exist or Where it does where it does belong and Then it'll be there once you click on Update So that's probably the easiest way to Build your products is use what you have Already in this template or once you've Done a few of them just delete all the Rest that aren't yours and just upload Your own when you add a new one It's the exact same form just nothing is Filled out you'd enter a product name The product name would auto save to the URL so if I type in product name Tab out of there here's the URL click on Edit to change it if you want add your Description Add a price and a sale price you can Also schedule the sale price so if it's Not a sale currently you can schedule a Sale to happen so maybe the sale starts November 1st And ends November 30th and whatever your Sale price is say the full price is 24 Sale price is 20. The 20 sale price is going to exist in This time frame you add your product Image over here You can upload images you can upload Them one at a time here or you can
Upload three thousand At a time and you just pick your image Click on select product image and it's In there if you have multiple images you Make a gallery Let's check multiple hold the shift key Down and select multiple click on add to Gallery Now is it going to be a calorie On this listing I'm going to add this to most popular Click on publish once it's published we Can head out to the product and actually Take a look at how it looks There's our main image there's a gallery Down below Super slick There's no description here because we Didn't add one but when you have this Created all you have to do or all the Visitor has to do now is click on add to Cart Then view cart And it shows the product in their cart There's even a button up here to go to Their cart if they're somewhere else on The website Click on proceed to checkout And now they can go ahead fill this form And check out But we haven't added any payment options So once you've customized your products You want to take a look at payment Options And all other woocommerce settings so if
You go to woocommerce up here and then Go to settings There's a whole heap of settings to go Through one is your shop address If you sell digital only products that Are delivered online it's not super Important Countries you sell to is probably Important countries you ship to if it's A physical product taxes coupons Currency options and there's again Oodles and oodles of videos specifically About these things and there's also Plugins that can expand the Functionality of pretty much everything On woocommerce so if you wanted to have Instead of just setting one currency Down here you wanted to have many Currencies that you accept there's a Plug-in for that so if you if there's a Specific need you have for your store Chances are really good that there are Options for you out there to fulfill Those needs that you have under products We select a shop page Which is auto selected when it's Imported there's some settings for the Shop page shipping settings this is Where you'd set up your shipping zones Your shipping rates and then woocommerce Will automatically calculate everything For you this you might want to do Alongside of your shipper so if you're Shipping with FedEx for example or
Purolator or whatever they're all called You'd want to figure out exactly what Their shipping rates are and their Shipping zones and how it all works and They'd fill in the shipping zones if I Add shipping Zone pretty straightforward Give it a Zone name maybe it's a West Coast Zone region United States West Coast California Let's add in Oregon Washington let's call that the West Coast Those will be included in the specific Zone you can also limit it by specific Zips and postal codes if you want then The shipping methods available for this Zone you'd add them Right here let's do flat rate and we can Edit the flat rate Give it a price Let's say 10 bucks is that taxable yes Or no so if you're calculating tax in Your online store is this ten dollars For shipping also taxable I'm gonna say no And so that's how you set up your Shipping zones If you go to shipping zones you see a Summary of all the zones you have You can also set shipping options here Shipping classes here
Not sure what the classes are maybe it's Like extra large parcel or something Will be a class Maybe Shipping classes can be used to group Products of similar type I guess that works extra large medium Anyway this is what you define as a Group of products on your store and what Their shipping class is under payments That's where we can set up our payment Methods There's woocommerce payments which I Believe you have to pay for Oh it looks like woocommerce payments is Free unlike pretty much every other Plugin created by woocommerce themselves They're pretty much all paid for plugins But you consider woocommerce payments in Your store where are we now by clicking Install over here you can also Bank Transfers transfers checks cash on Delivery and we can also add a whole lot More If we go to plugins and then add new and Look up woocommerce Payments PayPal Stripe payment Gateway Braintree netopia Pay stack A little stripe one pay fast Euro bank there's even some Cryptocurrency ones There's lots and lots of options I just Stick to PayPal and stripe but which
Ones you choose are up to you and and What's right for your business Go back to settings and then payments so If you turn on any one of these let's Just turn on these ones because those Ones don't require any plugins there is A bit of setup for these but not much For cash on delivery that's for sure Check payments also not much but bank Transfer you have to actually set up a Connection to your bank And click on Save changes for that now If I go back out to our order form where Earlier we had no payment methods if I Refresh this page we now have payment Options we can actually check out I'm Going to choose cash on delivery And in a minute we're going to place the Order so we can see what that looks like In the back end So now if I go back over here Accounts and privacy this is important Information for your users and this Relates to if you scroll down here now We haven't turned that on so up here it Says guest checkout allow customers to Place orders without an account or allow Customers to log into an existing Account during checkout You can allow both of those if you want Or they have to log into an account so If I save this and now when I go back Out here and refresh to make sure it Loads the new settings if we place order
It's going to require us to log into our Account So that's what we want to have then These privacy account privacy settings Are very important if you're going to Have just guest checkout you'll have to Worry too much about these emails are What are sent out when someone orders so We have the New Order notification That's sent to the website so this is The admin email address it's set up Under settings and general So right here is the administrator's Email address this is the one that New Order is sent to canceled order is sent To and failed order is sent to and all The others Are sent to the customer and the Customer enters the email address on the Checkout form So right down here it's a required field And All these emails will be sent to them You can customize these emails to your Heart's content click on manage for any One of these and you can update them for The default for this one order on hold The subject line your site title order Has been received so our site title Currently let's see this would sound The Surreal go back to General Site title is a familyadventures.com So your afamilyadventures.com order has Been received thank you for your order
We look forward to fulfilling your order Soon I want to give more details in regards To being on hold but this is where you'd Customize that you want to make sure it Reads well you can also if you don't Want to use the standard templates so You can override the actual template File on your server and this is the Information for updating that file this Is not something you do when you're Starting out but it's definitely Something that you can look into once You are better at this stuff so all Those emails can be customized to your Heart's content Here you can change the sender details The from name the from address You can add a header image if you want This is the footer Colors and that will be automatically Populated into these templates whatever Your settings are down there Integrations allow you to integrate Right now with Max mind and the database File path which is already put in here Max mine is used for geolocation so if Someone if you if you block orders from Say Europe for example you can have G Location through Max mine that says oh This person's from Europe so they can't Order and so maybe you don't ship there Maybe for a different reason you don't Want to ship there
But you can exclude or include certain Areas based on their geolocation then Under advanced we choose our cart page This is selected from the pages on our Site which are found over here the pages And these are all settings again that There's Oodles of tutorials that go Through each one of these things these Question marks explain what they are as Well if you hover over them Gives you some info about what they are Rest API web Hooks and Legacy API those Are for developers if you don't know What those are just leave them Everything works fine without them so Don't worry about it So once you have all that set up There's a lot of settings to go through But you once you've done it once you can Blow through it in an afternoon no Problem I'm going to quickly fill in this form Place this order and see how this looks Inside of the website okay that's all Filled in click on place order Here it shows our order details if this Was an actual process payment through Stripe for example it would show whether The payment was accepted or not and it Would show a receipt or not depending on If it was accepted and then once we're Once we have an order we go to Woocommerce and orders and we see An order right here with a big one
Instead of red circle so hopefully this Will show thousands and thousands when You first get started but it probably Won't it'll start slow and then grow From there but once you have orders you Come in here you click on the order Currently the status is processing we Can see the historical order notes on The right side I say that because that's very important So you can if you have multiple people Working on your orders and fulfilling Them you can see a history of what Happened Here we have all the customer Information Here we have the product information We can add our own private notes to our Order notes over here or a note to Customer whatever you send in here with Them will then be emailed to the Customer and the private note will just Be saved in this little timeline and Currently we are processing The status right here is processing so The other other stat I are pending Payment on hold completed canceled Refunded failed and draft And if you recall these are also the Names of emails that are sent out so I Go back to woocommerce And settings to show you what I mean go Back to emails we have canceled order Failed order order on hold completed
Order refunded order And customer note Those statuses or those emails line up With statuses in here so if we switch This to Completed and click on update it's going To send the customer that templated Email which is super cool and that Custom note or the note to customer that I pointed out if we add a note in here It'll send out that templated email This one right here note to customer There's also actions over here that can Be done email invoice and Order details To customer they'll be emailed those Automatically but if they're not and They ask you to email them you can do That here you can resend New Order Notification and you can generate Download permissions if it's a digital Product and if you choose one of these Actions and click on this button here And that actually does the action There we go we sent the invoice to the Customer At the same time it also updated the Page because we chose completed over Here for the status And now it's actually completed and here We see new entries in our log with Timestamps to show us what's happening With this order Now we also have a customers list Because we have someone who bought and
It didn't refund so they are currently Active customers and there's a list of Them right here something very important That you need to run your site Which this site is currently lacking On the contact page we don't have a form So let's add that form to make sure if There are customers who are interested But not sure if they want to buy it and They can contact you WP forms came Auto installed Let's see if there's a form already Built in here Contact form is built Let's go to edit See what this looks like name email Subject message pretty standard form There's lots of options for Fields you Can add You could add um Put this one here And let's call this product or products You're interested in And then they can tell you what they're Interested in because they might be Emailing you about certain products There's lots of options WP form also has Oodles of tutorials on my channel and Other channels as well Click on Save when you have Successfully edit that form we can copy The short code there should also be a Widget right inside the page as well if We go to Pages we see a bunch of extra
Pages installed here So what happened here is when we Installed woocommerce through cloudways It added the woocommerce pages cart Checkout Account Refunds and returns And it set those as the woocommerce Pages and then when we installed our Shop as well then we installed the Template it also created those pages as Well so we want to use the template Pages and the way we figure out which Ones are which is look at the timestamps So at 7 52 a.m on April the 5th Was when this was created well that's The last time that that was edited and What that means is it's a file that Cloudway serves up from their hard Drives to install this and it was last Edited at that time and the new one Which is today that's the one that was Installed by the template so I'm going To delete all the ones that are old You can sort by date Would be easier It's going to delete all of these so I Have to reassociate these you see after The names we have these dashes with the Official woocommerce name for that page We have to reassociate those to our Existing ones here I'm just going to delete those four Click on bulk actions click on move to
Trash click on apply now before we Reassociate those we're just going to Finish our thought on the contacts page So let's go to edit right here is where A contact form was not showing up form Cannot be displayed for some reason So this is WP forms block widget so we Didn't have to copy the short code we Could have selected the form from here Contact form And it filled it in Super slick click on update Now we have our form and I see that we Have whenever we hover it messes up I see that we have products you're Interested in as a label instead of a Placeholder I want to change that so if I go back out of here Go back to WP forms Go to edit for the contact form Click on this Let's see placeholder text So let's copy that or cut that and put It in there And then label might have to tell it to Hide label down here And then click on Save And that should be exactly how we want It Let's take a look let's refresh our Contact page And there we go this could be a bit Longer there's endless tweaks you can do I'm sure you've noticed when you're
Building websites or just it's an Endless amount of things oh that could Be a little bit longer that could be Over here this could be doing that it's A never-ending never ending thing I'll change the field size from medium To large and that puts it all the way Across Save let's double check that refresh Boom all Fields the same width Beautiful Now that's handled we're going to go Back into our site And go to woocommerce Settings Go to Advanced It still has the old Pages linked here So we've got to open this and just type In the word cart It's where the number is smaller it Turns out That it was the template files that are Older So if we go back to pages Go in the trash These are The template files from The Astra theme so I'm going to restore Those Because those are the ones we want to Associate with our actual woocommerce So this one here which is a 315 that That is the one we want and this was Actually Associated automatically when
Edit page around the front end or if we Go to Pages Edit under home Inside of the block editor we can edit All these things to our hearts content So maybe I want to change this title to Custom Outdoor furniture Sweet that's what I want you want to Change this text from warm ipsum to Whatever your description is You can have it be whatever you want If you look at any one of these blocks There's more options on the right hand Side under block this is an image block This over here is an infoblock And we have a container around the info Block whenever you hover over something You see it's highlighted so you can edit All these things click on the plus to Add more blocks if you browse all There's lots and lots of options there Is a learning curve just like if you're Using a page builder like Elementor or Divi or Beaver Builder there's a Learning curve you got to learn these Things And there's oodles noodles of tutorials Again on my channel and lots of others That help you learn how to use a block Editor and tweak it to exactly what you Need what I recommend when you're Starting out
Just take a template like we have here Replace the content with yours and get It as close as you can to whatever it is You want to have and get it there as Fast as possible launch your store start Making sales and then you can go ahead And tweak these things and improve them As you go because you can always go back Into your website let's say you want to Make a new home page Go to pages and add new Let's call this home Click on Save draft The permalink slug is home I'm going to Call this home Revisited click on Save draft And now we can build out a brand new Home page and always keep it as a draft Now when the new page is ready to be Published and for the public to see you Click on publish And then you set your old home page to Draft so we come back out here to our Pages the home page has the dash front Page after that's the one that's Currently active You select that Or click on quick edit change the status To draft and then once that's done you Go to appearance nope sorry go to Settings and then reading under a static Home page Choose home and this will show the home Page that is currently in draft mode
Which will be published in your case you Then select home and then the new home Page that you made will be The home page for the website not so Easy it is to make a new home page and You can also find full templates that Aren't this starter kit you can get Templates from all over the place for Building home pages and the reason I Like templates so much is they make your Life so much easier and so much faster Just imagine how long it would take for Us to build Something that looks like this it Wouldn't take me very long because I do This all day long but for somebody who Doesn't have any experience it would Take a long time so it's so much easier Just to take one of these adapt it to Your needs Launch your your website and then tweak And go from there because I've never met A website that's finished unless it was Deleted that's the only site that's Finished is the one that's been deleted Every other website that exists online Is constantly changing and so don't wait Till you have it perfect to launch it Just get it good enough good enough that You think it can make sales for you Launch it hopefully make some sales and Then tweak it as you go because it will Never be finished trust me there's Always going to be stuff you want to
Improve there's always going to be stuff You want to do better and it's just it Just goes on forever before we wrap up I Want to see what the page speed is now Of our new website here so let's go to Google page speed insights Put in our new URL click on analyze and It's way faster no sorry that's not true It's the same as it was which is amazing Because now we have an actual website There if you recall the first one which Is in this tab here go back to mobile With a 92 for the performance 2.6 Seconds to the first contourful paint And in fact 2.6 seconds for everything Over here And then the new one Is still 2.6 seconds to the first Contact full paint and a bit slower for The others we can see we're on the Second thumbnail for mobile before Something starts appearing For desktop we're at 92 we used to be at 99.8 seconds across the board 0.8 for the first two point three for The second So the third screen so we start seeing Things and that's for me the most Important thing because people who are Visiting your site They don't care That you go to 92 on Google page speed Insights they could care less what they Care about is when they come to your
Site how fast is something loading does It look like something's happening as Long as something's happening and people Are like okay it's working it's loading They'll stay for longer they'll stay Way Beyond the recommended load speed for a Website if they see something's Happening obviously there's a limit to That as well it's got to go relatively Fast I'd say less than three seconds but As long as something is happening along The way As long as they're seeing things like The first content full paint and seeing Things load they'll wait so this 82 is Not as good as the 90. or 92 that we had Before we had anything on the site But it's also not that bad because it's The same amount of time it's just we Lowered our score because of other Things that are going a little bit Slower either way I think 82 for a home Page that has content Is pretty solid for a mobile 2.6 seconds you can go even faster we Have no speed plug-ins no caching Plugins installed all we have is a fast Server on cloudways and a well-built Theme which is Astra without using a Page builder we're using the Gutenberg Block editor for this template so we're We're choosing the best options to be Able to go as fast as possible and it Makes a real difference choosing those
Kind of options on your page speed All that to say cloudways is a great Platform for starting your websites You can start for free for three days Which isn't gonna last very long but Beyond that the server prices are really Really reasonable especially when you Compare it to existing hosting that we Already use And this is dedicated this 12 a month That you pay for this this level here Which is the one we have actually one Gigabyte That is a dedicated server that only you Have if we go to siteground WordPress Hosting where we are here You're put onto a server with other People it's not dedicated once you pass The introductory price it's 15 a month And you're sharing the bandwidth in the Server with others it's not just yours Whereas for 12 a month over here that's Just yours and if we wanted to get into Something as dedicated just for you on Siteground we'd have to go to Cloud Hosting And this would be only for you to get Her foot in the door it's a hundred Dollars a month which is way more Than the 12 over here you also get Higher stats you get more resources Which a website that's first starting Out doesn't need that many resources but There isn't a cheaper option if you want
A dedicated server Because your site gets traffic you want A dedicated server you gotta jump up to 100 bucks a month on siteground but you Can get started for 12 or 13 and vulture or 12 and line node 36 With AWS or 33 with Google and those are Now dedicated servers just for your Website And if you go to cloudways right now and Head over to the pricing tab you'll see There is currently a 40 off for four Months so click on this button you sign Up over here and you enter this promo Code in this field If we copy this into here Get a little check mark I said it's a Real promo code you can sign up and Claim 40 off for the next four months This will eventually run out this is a Black Friday Cyber Monday sale as you Can see from the promo code bfcm when That's run out I've negotiated another Discount for you it's the wp learning Lab discount this one You type into the Promo field WP lab 25 and that gives you 25 off for three months so this one is Going to only last until Black Friday is Over cyber Monday's over and then this Deal will be gone the promo code you see Here and the one that you see right here WP lab 25 which will be in the Description down below and that will
Work going forward as as long as I know Until they shut off that coupon whenever That is but there's no real time limit There is a time limit that's only three Months worth of 25 off there's a time Limit in that regard but how long the Coupon code will work it should work for Years to come and so when there's no Other deal going on you really got to Move to cloudways this is the coupon Code for you and it's in the description Down below next up check out this video Right up here it's the previous Cloudways video I made where I walk Through all the settings in your Cloudways account so if you're curious About what settings you have and what How much power there is in your Colorways account check out that video And then check out this one down here Which is all about speeding up your Website if you want blazing fast Websites check out that video if you Haven't done so yet click subscribe and Ring the bell so don't miss new future Videos my name is Bjorn from WP learning Lab till next time keep crushing it and I will see you in the next video
A blog is a web site that contains discrete text entries (posts) in a diary-like format. These posts are usually displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent post appearing at the top of the web page. A blog is generally created in the form of a personal diary. The format allows users to read each entry as it occurs, so the reader can follow changes over time.
Creating a blog has numerous benefits, including helping individuals build a personal brand and generating an additional or full-time income. For those who are looking to earn money through their blog, choosing a niche that has a high potential for affiliate offers and sponsored posts is the first step. Businesses also create blogs to boost website rankings and attract customers. The main goal of a successful blog is to provide high-quality information in an easy-to-understand format. It’s also important to create an inviting headline. Studies have shown that a compelling headline can make people click through to read the content.
Adding pages to your blog is easy and allows you to customize the look and feel of your blog. Customization is important and can help you develop a deeper relationship with your readers. With WordPress, the number of customization options is virtually endless. For instance, you can choose to use multiple themes for your blog. And you can also create as many different types of pages as you want. This makes it easy to create and manage different types of content and to create a new site with WordPress.
A blog is a web page that allows visitors to share information and make comments. It’s also a great way to improve your rankings on search engines. A blog can help your company gain more credibility as an industry expert. It can also help you create a community of readers who share common interests. In addition, blogs are an excellent way to showcase your passion for a topic. When designed properly, a blog can help you establish an online community and reach your target audience.
It is also important to post content regularly. Adding fresh content to your blog will keep your readers interested and make them want to return to your site. This is because search engines prioritize fresh content, which will increase your page rankings and increase traffic. Initially, it’s important to publish content at least three times per week but eventually you’ll need to post at least one new post every single day. This will encourage social sharing and email traffic.
While the majority of blog posts are text-based, they can be designed as a visual medium as well. For example, a blog created for a bicycle manufacturer can include images. The articles on these blogs can be informative about outdoor activities, as well as behind-the-scenes looks at the products. Many blogs feature a mix of multimedia, videos, and storytelling to draw readers in. Some of these posts can be evergreen, a great way to build your website’s traffic.
A blog can help you build a community online. It allows you to engage in conversations with other readers around the world. Blogs typically have a comments section that allows readers to interact with the blog author. By engaging with these readers, you will be building relationships with other readers. Eventually, your blog can turn into a lucrative business.
Before writing your blog post, consider what type of content you’ll be writing. You’ll need a clear idea of what you want to write about, so you can outline it using headers and subheaders. Then, make bulleted notes under each heading. These will form the skeleton of your first blog post.
Blogging is an excellent way to share your thoughts and opinions. Many people use blogs to showcase their expertise and help them stand out from the crowd. A blog can also help you earn money by displaying ads or selling your own products. Moreover, it will improve the visibility of your website on the internet. Blogs rank higher in search engine results, which means more traffic and more quality leads. If you have an interest in a topic, you will have a better chance of creating an engaging and informative blog post.
Another important strategy for promoting your blog is to partner with other respected bloggers and writers in your field. Some of these collaborations can result in guest postings, cross-promotion of products, or regular interactions on social media. Ultimately, the key is to develop relationships with other bloggers and businesses who share your passion.
