I’ll be showing you how to create menu tabs in WordPress without a plugin. There are a few ways to do this but sometimes people like not to use a plugin, and that is what I’ll be covering in this short tutorial.
I’m going to be showing you how to add menu tabs to your WordPress website, like the ones you see here.
Add The Categories for Your Menu
To start, you’ll need to head over to our WordPress dashboard. After that, we’ll go over to where it says “Post” and then click on “Categories.” This is where we’ll create the categories that will show up in our menu. So my website is a photography website, as you can see by the various categories here.
To create a successful website, you’ll want to come up with a list of main categories that match your site’s content. These could be things like blog posts, products, services, or events.
So, for example, if you want to add a new category, you would go to the “Categories” tab on the left side of the screen and find it under “Category.” Then you would enter a name for your new category and hit “Add.”
To add a new category, you would simply type in the name of the category and then scroll down to find it.
To create a new category, click “add a new category.” You’ll see the categories listed in this menu and below it are different camera stands. After you select one of these, you can then choose whether to put it under the “main” category or its own subcategory.
To create a new category, go to the “Category” tab and click on “New Category.” Then, enter the name of your new category in the “Name” field and select the parent category from the list. Finally, click on “Create.”
A new category will be created called “pocket cameras,” and it will be a subcategory of the “camera stands” category. You can then create additional subcategories for each main category, depending on your needs. For example, you could have a subcategory for DSLR cameras, film cameras, point-and-shoot cameras, and smartphone cameras.
Create a Custom Menu
To create a custom menu, first, add categories and subcategories to your list. Then, go to Appearance and create the menu with those categories.
We’re going to create a new menu, and you can call it whatever you want. I’m going to call it “Three.”
After you create the menu, you will see all of the categories and sub-categories that you created. You can then select which ones you want to appear on your menu.
So what we need to do is take that and move it over here, a little bit to the right to the right under there and now that’s a sub-item, and you just do that for each one like that, rearranging them as needed. And then in the end this is what it will look like when you’re done: You guys can just rearrange these any way you want by just picking them up and then dragging them to say “you want the videos before the galleries here.”
To display an item in a certain location, you first need to bring up the category and subcategory. Then, under “Display Location,” make sure the box next to “Include this category and all of its subcategories” is checked.
If you want to see the main menu on your website, you should check this box first. After you do that, everything else will be set up how you want it. Next, just click on “save menu” and then when you come back to your website, it will look like this with all of your categories listed.
To add a title and content to an article, start by clicking “That here” in the top left corner of the screen. Next, click “Title & Content.” This will open a new window where you can type your title and content. If you want to create different categories for your articles, click “Categories” below the text box and select from one of the pre-made categories or create your own.
To start, place your article’s title in the “Title” box on the left. Beneath that, you’ll see two boxes: one for categories and one for content. If you want to write any content for your article, simply click on these plus boxes and begin typing!
To add text or images to your post, click on the “add block” button to the right of this paragraph. You can then choose between adding text or images from your blog post’s content or from your photo library.
After you upload your images, they will be in your media library. You can select the images you want and then click on “Create a new gallery.” After that, you can add captions and if you want, insert a gallery. This will help to improve the appearance of your post.
Menu Links to Other Sites
If you want to link to a different website, go here and insert the URL of the desired destination. Whenever someone clicks on that image, it will take them to that specific URL.
If you keep going down this page, you’ll see some other images. I added the same thing here. Just click on the plus button when it pops up, and then upload your image or get it from your media library.
If you click on one of the plus signs on the right side of this paragraph, there are a variety of other options available. You can also find a browse-all button at the bottom.
To embed a YouTube video on your blog, you first need to find the YouTube logo. On the right side of the page, click on it. Then copy and paste in the URL of your desired video. Finally, click on “Embed This Video” to insert it into your post.
To center your text, click on the “align center” button. You can also move it to the left by clicking on the “left” button. If you want to create a link, just press and hold down the CTRL key and then click on the link icon that appears.
To add a link in the sidebar of your post, first, paste the URL into the little link button on the right side of your screen. Once you’ve pasted in your URL, click “On this button.” Then, whenever someone clicks that link (for example, this yoga right here), it will send them to whatever page you pasted in. If you notice all of a sudden that the sidebar has disappeared, don’t worry! Just come over to Settings and click on “Themes” and then “Sidebar” to bring it back up.
